New project: Chillilog

Recently I’ve been trying to grow some chilli plants out in the garden. It’s not the first time I’ve tried to grow my own vegetables but since playing a lot with the Arduino I had small brainwave. Could I wire up my chilli plants to my computer so they could tell me if they are getting enough sunlight or water? There are a lot of projects around which use the Arduino as a medium to automatically control the amount of water given to plants and the timing at which they give it, but I suspect there is a need for something much simpler.

I’m still in the early development stages but essentially my brief is this:

Develop a system or service which allows beginner to experienced low yield productive gardeners check the needs of their crop (moisture, temperature, UV) using a computer or mobile device.

Simple and not very revolutionary (there are many commercial options), but I suspect there is a lot that can be done with the way the information is logged and presented back to the gardener to not just improve the approach of the gardener, but also make it more enjoyable.

Look out for a project page with some beginning development work soon!

Hello Actionscript.

I’ve been playing a lot with Actionscript recently including the Hype Framework. It’s so great how painless it is to set up and execute things that I’ve been craving to do for the last few years but never had the knowledge.

Finally Up and Running!

All that’s left is to weave together all the loose threads.
Have a look around and let me know what you think.

Cheers!

Soon

I’m currently working on putting together a new portfolio website so please bear with me while I hack away at WordPress like a maniac. Hopefully we will get somewhere this time.

Thanks,
Mac.
